Salary: $55,000 to $60,000 dependent upon experience


Start Date: March 2025


Position: Full-time 1-year fellowship with eligibility for benefits after a 3-month satisfactory trial period. Opportunity for 2nd year extension and transition into career position at year 3.


Process: Submit application, resume, cover letter, and writing sample + initial and secondary rolling interviews with key personnel


Location: Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) based. Hybrid. You must have stable, high-speed internet and phone access, working vehicle, driver's license, and occasional weekend availability.

The Role

The Co-Op Developer Fellow is a key position in our organization at a time where we are expanding rapidly. Your role entails working with a team of technical service providers to cooperatively design, build-out support and access resources for Black and Brown farmers. The fellowship provides targeted cooperative development training and mentorship to our existing farmers and each cohort of LAMP’s incubator partner farmers participating in shared aggregation activities. Examples include, but are not limited to:


provide workshops and mentorships around governance, entity formation, financial management and conflict


support access to information pertinent to USDA and non-USDA resources


build relationships with farmers to assess needs and offer collaborative services


model community work with small groups and in partnerships


co-source of grant money


coordinate labor


facilitate technical assistance as liaison with the Calabash consultants


coordinate with drivers to support the logistical needs of multiple farms

About You

You have a lived-experience belonging to the Black Diaspora. You have a passion for, knowledge (or curiosity to learn) about topics around sustainability, agriculture, self-directed learning, and equity as it relates to Black and Indigenous folx. You are motivated to engage in an immersive experience surrounding the cooperative models within an organization. You have specific experience in the position you are applying for or a deep interest in learning. You are excited to travel to farms locally in Prince George’s County, DC, and Northern Virginia for on-farm programming, site visits, providing program coordination assistance, and facilitating proper communication.

You have background experience or interest in community development, public administration, or agriculture and at least three years of work experience in at least six of the following, and have completed graduate level studies (preferred but not required):


digital literacy in applications such as Google Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office, Slack


-conflict resolution

-community building

-logistics coordination 

-organization operations 

-public speaking

-presentation skills 

-research & writing 

-community organizing

Appointed mentor for weekly personal development check-ins


Integration into the world of small-scale regenerative farming, land stewardship, Black food sovereignty and community building


New knowledge in the logistics of food aggregation, distribution, and transportation


Skills development in operational programs and services such as: Dubsado, Quickbooks, Ramp, Deputy and Notion


Networking opportunities with financial-service leaders


Attendance and participation in accounting and finance conferences and professional development trainings


Shadowing rotations within various OSW program offerings


Participation in programs, on-farms, and networking events with current OSW staff, consultants, and volunteers.
