Deep Fried: A Pinoy Musical! is a full-length musical set in a Vancouver fried chicken franchise restaurant. The story centers around Antoinette (also named Toni), a young queer Filipinx non-binary person who works at a Cruxes Chicken (think Church’s Chicken) run by their older cousin, Kuya Pepe and their friends. They work hard with their family and best friends (Sol and Ben) to run the restaurant and loves that their workplace is an unofficial community space for Filipino people and the neighbourhood. An unexpected visit from a pop idol, Q, that Toni respects dearly, to the chicken shop starts a series of events that unintentionally intertwines their lives.

Deep Fried is not just another story of the diaspora, but a breaking of our understanding of the IBPOC people serving us in our daily lives and the dreams and hopes of young-queer diasporic folks of the now.
