Thank you for your interest in making our garden the best that it can be!
It takes many different people with various skills and strengths to ensure the smooth operation of our community garden. We encourage participation from gardeners as well as the general community to shape the direction of the garden and its role in the greater community.
The Soulstice Garden Committee is a sub-committee of Seed & Soul Society. The only role within the garden that is an elected role is the Garden Director, voted in by the committee members & approved by board of directors.
General committee expectations will be
- Set regular meetings
- Outline tasks and time commitments; maintain a calendar/timeline for activities
- Plan the garden, design and installation with input from community members staff and Board of Directors
- Establish a volunteer plan for ongoing maintenance and care
- Advocate and pursue ongoing funding for the garden
- Build strong accountability among current members and recruiting new members
- Identify and leverage community resources and volunteers and supporting the garden
- Create events, programs and activities in the garden (garden openings, harvest, festivals, after school clubs, open houses, etc.) to invite the neighborhood, families, and other members of the community to celebrate the garden, and become more involved in efforts to sustain it
- Community outreach, and PR, including gardening, updates and events, the newsletter garden, bulletin boards, etc.
- Develop a way to evaluate the success of the project in order to wait for Jennifer, strengths and weaknesses that will affect sustainability
- Report to the board of directors and other community bodies as appropriate
